Internet Email Discussion ListsThe Lists:There are several Underwater Photo discussion mailing lists (email listservers). The largest are listed below. Email lists let list members send a single email that goes to all other members. These lists tend to become single communities and members generally get to know the other posters fairly well. The egroups lists were purchased by Yahoo and are accessible by the old egroups.com or the newer yahoogroups.com domains interchangeably. If you are willing to submit or already have a free Yahoo membership, you can access more features and past archives on the web on the yahoo based lists. If you know of other active open email lists, please notify the webmaster to have them added to this list of resources.
uwphoto@egroups.com (or uwphoto@yahoogroups.com)
The eGroups list is moderated by Mark Beatty, the owner of this web site. uw-photo@world.std.com
uwvideo@egroups.com or (uwvideo@yahoogroups.com)
Underwater Photography Competition Newsuwphotonews@egroups.com - This is a receive only list for information and announcement from various underwater photography competitions. You will get competition announcement and press releases, but may not post to the list. Messages are sent only be verified photo contest managers/directors. Video@egroups.com - Not specific to underwater video, but may be of interest to some videographers. Join all the lists!Types of email lists Standard Email list format - Mail sent by other list members is received in your email box individually as they are sent. Digest Email Format - Mail sent by other list members is held and sent as a group, normally daily. If 10 group members send messages, you would receive only one email per day with the combined text of all 10 messages. Generally fewer messages in your mailbox, but slightly more confusing to reply to individual messages. Web List Format - You are technically a member of the list, but must log onto a web site to read the messages. |
